Bio

Name: Martin Borg

Age: 32

Hometown: Östersund, Sweden

Current location: Saxnäs

Sport: Backcountry Snowmobile

Riding style: "I’m not the most rad sledder out there - I don’t do big jumps, flips or other crazy stuff. I explore and educate snowmobilers in avalanche safety, which all sledders need if they want to call themselves advanced riders."

How did you get your start: "3 years old on a Kitty Cat and then 2010 to Mountain riding"

Favorite TOBE Gear: "The 2019 Novo Mono Suit V2. Because I tried it out in a true TOBE Outerwear way. I decided to sleep out on the mountain in the snow and never got wet. It was -20 Celsius (-4 F) outside. Awesome outdoor equipment!"

What makes TOBE the ideal gear for you? "It’s high-quality gear. It will keep you dry all day, and that will keep you safe. I would not leave the parking lot without trusting my equipment and it makes me feel and look better than I would without it."

Favorite zones: "This is a hard one! I love my backyard (Marsfjäll); there is always a new spots to explore. But my overall number one, has to be Blue River, BC or Alpine, Wyoming. Or…it could be the next new place I’m going to ride. Snowmobiling is a way to explore new places and meet up with new folks, so you never know."

Plans and goals for this season: "Have fun and try something new. Becoming a better rider is always a goal. Besides that, I plan to spread avalanche awareness to more Swedish riders for a safer community among sledders."

Biggest Accomplishment: "My solo trip to Dan Adams in Alpine, Wyoming without knowing anything about where I was going. Also, getting my Canadian Avalanche Association ITP Level 1"

Inspiration: "Everyone that pushes it out of their comfort zones and tries something new inspires me to never quit exploring. A role model for me is the founder of TOBE. Tomas Berntsson, he just never stops, and he showed me how proper backcountry riding is done way back in the day."

Anything else people should know about you: "Safety on the mountain starts With you and your decisions. From the gear you buy to the people you choose to ride with. I love when I get questions as a guide about avalanche safety, as that means that the person is a serious rider and that we could take that day to a higher level of riding."
